At Balance Mental Wellness, we are committed to maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of all client information. We understand the sensitive nature of the therapeutic process, and protecting your personal information is of utmost importance to us.
CONFIDENTIALITY IN THERAPY
All information shared during therapy sessions is treated as strictly confidential. This includes, but is not limited to, personal history, medical and psychological information, session details, and any communications made during the course of therapy. We follow the ethical standards set forth by the APA and ACA and comply with all state and federal laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), to protect your privacy.
EXCEPTIONS TO CONFIDENTIALITY
There are specific legal and ethical circumstances under which we may be required to break confidentiality, including but not limited to:
If we believe there is an immediate risk of harm to you or others.
If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult.
If we are ordered by a court of law to release records or provide testimony.
If you provide written consent for us to share your information with a third party (e.g., medical professionals, family members).

We use secure methods to store and manage all records, whether in physical or electronic form. Any communication via email, phone, or text is handled with care to ensure your privacy is protected. However, please be aware that electronic communication carries some risk of breach outside our control.
